Hello,
I’m Chris Yong, Thrive’s Fundraising Manager, and I’m delighted to introduce myself. Since joining Thrive, I’ve been inspired by the warmth of the welcome I’ve received and by the incredible work happening across Somerset every day.
One of my first opportunities was to visit a Talking Café, where I met people who had experienced Thrive’s support first-hand. Hearing how our services had helped them feel more connected and supported brought home just how important this work is.
Last year, Thrive supported almost 19,000 people across Somerset. Behind that number are thousands of stories of people building confidence, improving their wellbeing and finding support when they need it most.
Why fundraising matters
As a charity, Thrive relies on grants, donations, partnerships and community fundraising to help deliver life-changing services across Somerset.
Every day, we work alongside people facing challenges such as loneliness, poor mental wellbeing, financial pressures and barriers to accessing support. As demand for our services continues to grow, fundraising helps us reach more people and strengthen the support available in local communities.
Fundraising isn’t just about raising money. It’s about creating opportunities, building stronger communities and helping people access the support they need to thrive.

Over the coming months, we’ll be developing new fundraising opportunities for individuals, community groups and businesses who want to support local people and communities.
