we are 100

On the 6th of February 2026, we marked a remarkable milestone, 100 years of supporting, connecting and strengthening communities across Somerset. Since 1926, we’ve stood alongside local people through changing times, helping reduce isolation, championing community action, and ensuring that everyone has somewhere to turn when they need support.

Our centenary year is a chance to look back, celebrate the present, and invite the whole county to help shape the next 100 years of connection and community spirit.

We’re marking our centenary with a series of special activities designed to bring people together, spark creativity, and capture the voices of Somerset today.

Centenary Launch

On 6th February we celebrated the start of our centenary year where we work every day – out in the community, collaborating with our peers. In our largest ever Talking Cafe, we came together with key organisations to offer support and advice for local people.

Visit our digital time capsule, a space we have created to share our story from the past 100 years, and to invite people to share their favourite community memories, photos, and stories, as a record for those who will come after us; what we hope for our communities, what we want to change and what we must never lose. This growing digital archive will honour the past while preserving the spirit, values, and everyday moments that shape our communities right now.

As part of our centenary, we wanted to bring communities together to share in the celebrations, so we’re hosting a series of CommuniTea Parties across Somerset. Everyone is welcome, and you can host your own.

Working in partnership with Somerset Day, we are proud to celebrate this shared tradition of community connection.

Download our activity pack to help you bring people together for conversation, company and a cuppa, including promotional materials: a poster and social media templates.

Our digital time capsule competitions have now closed. A huge thank you to all the children, young people and community groups who shared their ideas, creativity and hopes for the future. We were delighted by the incredible range of entries received.
